Mon 17th Aug 09Recording again...
Hello, it's been a while.
We have been working on some new material and just spent the weekend at Head Gap in Preston laying the foundations of our next record. We're really happy so far, looking forward to adding a few layers and getting it out in the coming months. No mucking around this time.
You can read a bit more about it at our
myspace.
Also looking forward to hitting the live scene again, it's been a long time. Watch this space for gig announcements...

Yes Dave "Muscles Rox" Cox has finally decided that playing in a rock band is more fun than salsa dancing in Rio and so we have our drummer back. Time to take the record off ice and ship the first single Better Than Life/On The Beach (yes a double A-side!) out to radio and get on the road again.

Thanks to everyone who caught our set down at the Empress on Saturday night (and Krusty who arrived just as we finished!!)...
A big thankyou to Wes Hunter for coming down from the bush to join us on drums once again - it was just like old times.
Miyagi put on a killer show despite all coming down with the flu somewhere between NSW & Victoria, and Fourth Floor Collapse were impressive as always. It was a pleasure sharing a stage with you both.
If you didn't make it out on the weekend - pencils ready: our next show is 27th April at the Rob Roy with our friends
Armen Firman as well as Kate Lucas and The Razor Cartel. Mark your calendar now!

Come down early to check out this year's big bands from 9-12. DOORS OPEN 9.00 - dancefloor anarchy 'til 4am AND WE WILL BE OUT THERE DON'T YOU WORRY... Entry $8 - $2 pots & $2 champers 9-10pm. 161 HIgh St, Prahran, cnr Chapel St.
Thu 14th Dec 06Post Rock Mayhem!
Aarghhhh... what a wild night of post rock mayhem it was last Friday at Candy's. Yes we made the 1000km trip to the Cross in style a la Richard Branson and managed to borrow and steal enough gear to put on a roaring show. Miyagi and Dawn Collective showed fine hospitality and even finer playing, proving the Sydney scene is alive and kicking, contrary to popular belief down south.
Sadly it was Wes Hunter's last show with us, but a memorable one - that's one drummer that's gonna be hard to replace. We will miss you Wes.
Thanks to everyone who lent us gear, especially Renny who gave us the chauffeur treatment (careful we might get used to it) and Luke whose hat Paris took quite a shining to. Photos will be up on our
myspace soon...
Melbournians get ready for a big one at Pony on Fri 22nd and Sydneysiders look out for us again soon - we will be back!

Thanks!
Thanks to everyone who helped us celebrate the EP launch. It was bigger, louder and more ravishing than I could have imagined. Special thanks to; Jess The East's inhouse engineer who took the brakes off and let us explore the full intensity of 16mm's sound, Xavier our lighting tech who inspired an outbreak of seizures and Ben the miscellaneous merch boy who incidentally recalled Tom's past excursions in This Machine. Oh yeah... and thanks to the person who borrowed my camera. Anyone with a fetish for Cara's ankles and her delicate pedal action can get 20 minutes of uncensored footage. It's a little disturbing. Still photos of the night will be hitting the site soon.Mon 18th Sep 06SIMPLE EP MELBOURNE LAUNCH

Spring Is Here!
Spring is here at last, drawing us out of hibernation… Yes, the winter can be cruel and seemingly endless, but once again we have emerged at the other end, almost unscathed. So the racing carnival looms, and we all know it just gets sillier after that.
We have been happy enough tinkering away in the studio, but now it’s time to trade moccasins for cowboy boots, hot chocolate for carlton draft, and get the hell out of the house!

If Punk Could Be Beautiful...
We are very excited to announce Sixteen Millimetre’s upcoming gigs with new Melbourne act The Fakes! Taking their inspiration from the sensual pop sounds of Mazzy Star, The Sneaker Pimps, Garbage, and Paradise Motel, The Fakes are “what punk would sound like if it could be beautiful…”
You can catch the two bands together at Melbourne’s Ding Dong Lounge on Thurs 23rd June (with My Cousin Jack) and at The Empress in Fitzroy on Friday 5th August (with The Glorious).
If beautiful female vocals is your thing, do not miss the show at The Vic Hotel on Friday 1st July. Sixteen Millimetre play with special guests Talamere, featuring the haunting voice of Victoria Roberts.

The Ballad of North Vs South: Victory!
In a photo finish punters from Brunswick's Cornish Arms have nosed past the line to win the coveted title: "Rulers of the River"!
It was a bloody battle indeed but the cause was noble and the scars will be worth it. May the tradition and rivalry of live music live long in our fine city!!
Thanks to The Union & The Cornish Arms for providing the battle grounds, Phonograph, Night Harvest, Renny Field and Kanvas Grey for leading the armies, and of course, to you, the punters who fought gallantly for your side to be declared the victor. There can only be one winner. All hail North Side!Mon 16th May 05

*Sixteen Millimetre do not support or condone the use of dangerous weapons in any waySat 16th Apr 05The Morning After...
...woke up this morning - well ok, let's be honest, this afternoon - on a couch. Images were flashing through my head of beautiful, atmospheric music; dim, moody lighting; a packed room; people screaming for more; signing CD's and t-shirts; the elation of absolutely nailing the set; post-gig celebration drinks... must all be a dream, right?
Wrong.
This is how it feels the morning after the night you show the world that your band means business; that you are here to stay. Memories of weeks of hard work leading up to last night have been ousted by of all the smiling faces who made it possible. Anthony Paine, The Chinless Kings and
The Morning Birds set the scene beautifully for us. (Sorry Anthony if the pot of beer which accidentally got emptied on your Casio caused any damage! If it makes you feel better my Rhodes was a little sticky...)
Huge thanks to Natalie and the crew at The Empress, we couldn't have asked for a more perfectly intimate setting for the launch of such an intimate song.
It was really special to see so many familiar faces of friends, family, and "fans" (i think we can almost start using that word) who come along time after time to support us. We wouldn't be here without you. We had an absolute ball up there onstage with you guys with us every breath of the way... Dargs made us sound wonderful as always - thanks!
Thanks to Robbie Rowlands for his enormous contribution to the recording each of you took home last night. It will always be special to me as our first "studio project" and we are chomping at the bit to get back into the studio and provide you all with a more lengthy piece of plastic at the next launch party.
Oh dear this is starting to sound like an Aria speech, in fact there's some guy in the corner of my screen making strange winding motions...
Erm thanks to anyone else i've forgotten! We are really looking forward to the next gig, which at this stage is looking like early June with Phonograph, one of the bands we met in Sydney.
Ok, I've been awake for a good 6 hours, I'm exhausted. I think I hear my couch calling....

The Millimetre Diaries...
"We travel just to travel."
Like Che and Alberto, Sixteen Millimetre are taking to the open road to discover life outside the world they know (though not in search of leper colonies, nor on motorcycle!)
From Brunswick to Balmain, Bendigo to Bondi, audiences will be captivated by the "moody and enchanting" sounds of the Melbourne quintet.
The Sixteen Millimetre sound has been compared with everything from Coldplay to David Bowie. Described as "intelligent, intriguing" (Bonemachine), the band has been inciting the passion of many new fans over the last 12 months.

It was a great reminder of how diverse the Melbourne band scene is, and just how open punters are to something new and different. Not to mention highlighting just how talented those Readings staff members are!!!Mon 30th Aug 04
Come to The Terminus (492 Queens Parade, Clifton Hill) at 8pm for a feast of bands.
Begin with a few Lazy pre-dinner drinks,
Try some Whip Generation for entree,
Followed by a main course of Trickledown, and
Top it all off with a delicious Sixteen Millimetre dessert.
We will be on at about 10.00 (sans cheesy metaphors I promise!!). The Terminus has a great kitchen so get there early for some pizza! There might even be some other goodies up for grabs. And in case I haven't said it yet I'm talking about this Friday 3rd September.
See you there!Thu 19th Aug 04
From the loins of our lounge room sessions has sprung forth the Sixteen Millimetre Free Promo CD. This will be available at
upcoming gigs and can be copied freely and passed on to your friends. Our aim is to spread it around the world!

Our "Lounge Room Sessions" demo is being well recieved and supported by the local music industry, making it to the air waves via 3RRR's
Breakfaster's and
Local and/or General shows. Ryan Egan was also kind enough to award 16mm with the monthly recording package courtesy of Nigel Derricks & Bakehouse Studios. Woohhooo!
